For several years Mineraria di Boca spa has been actively performing its activity in the field of environmental renovation at its site of Boca in Novara.
Aiming at broadening his horizons in the field of renovation by paying attention not only to waste disposal but also to re-use of waste as raw material for the brick and cement industry.
As of the entry in force of the Legislative Decree Ronchi no. 22/97 and Implementing Ministerial Decrees of 05/02/1998, it is possible to supply to the brick-producing companies (that are concentrated mainly in in northern and central Italy) different recovered materials mixed with the clay raw material.
Different types of waste are tested in out laboratory (sledge, sand, ash) which are directly collected from the producers in order to evaluate their suitability for use in compounds with clays. Attention is especially paid to:
– Combustion ashes
– Foundry sands deriving from cast iron and steel melting
– Sledges deriving from the stones cutting and polishing
– Sludge residue generated during excavations and drilling.
The first processing phase concerns a careful analysis of the production process and of the materials used by each customer. After collecting this very important information from the customer, the laboratory searches for an appropriate mix of “waste” and clays that fully meets the client’s production requirements and this new “raw material” can be used without any variations to the finished product. The aforesaid operations can be performed first of all thanks to the tests carried out by the technicians in our laboratory and then also to the appropriate machines purchased to obtain mixtures at an industrial level. Following on from this, a new employment of local labour is required in order to manage the various production phases
